Illusions, illusions...
Notwithstanding the fact that the internet is more of an illusion, it nevertheless offers the possibility to meet with other people. It's true that 75% of these meetings are worth nothing. Yet when you get to meet with someone you really appreciate, then you may be surprised by the quality of the relationship that may emerge between the two wrecks who know how desperate they both are.
The next step is taking the meeting from the virtual to the real world. Then there must be some amount of caution! Surprises may emerge from the fact that both build up expectations that do not necessarily match with the reality. I think it was Rilke who said that when meeting with new people we must be ready to experience just anything. We shouldn't just take it for granted that people must correspond to some picture we have in mind and that those who don't match with it are excluded. Only then can we get a chance to find what we really need (even if this doesn't necessarily mean that we get what we want, funny as it may seem).
Well, let's stop the philo talk and just say, get up and get your giggs!! There surely is someone out there waiting just for the chance of meeting and talking with you so that you make their happiness and they make yours ;)
